“Throughout our history God has spoken by his prophets in many different ways. The revelation he gave them was only a fragment at a time, building one truth upon another. But to us living in these last days, God now speaks to us openly in the language of a Son…”
You’ve heard the song, “I Speak Jesus”? What’s it really like to speak Jesus, the language of a Son?
Who is this “Son”?
The writer of Hebrews tells us he’s the heir of everything, and that everything was created by God through him.
He’s the dazzling radiance of God’s splendor.
The exact expression of God’s true nature.
His mirror image.
He hold the universe together by the power of his spoken word (rhema).
He sits on the highest throne at the right hand of the Majestic One.
So, I’m a son, too. Well technically, a daughter, brought into the household of God by accepting the free gift that Jesus offers, forgiveness and redemption by his blood.
So, Daddy, do I get to speak “Son”, too? What does that look like?
In all I do, point to you.
Include you in every conversation as if you’re standing right there with me – on earth as it is in heaven.
Receptive to Holy Spirit’s promptings, thoughts, direction, and say what I hear.
Everyone needs to hear the language of a Son.
My mom was a storyteller, making them up as she told them. Her stories so captivated us that we invited our friends to sit with us as she told them. Mommy later told us that sometimes the neighbor kids would come over and ask for story time when none of us kids were even home. She usually let them in.
Because everyone needs to hear the language of Son. To know they’re now part of the family, privy to the words of imagination building stories, personal words of encouragement, sometimes stern words of caution spoken by a mom who loved you even if you weren’t her own.
I want to be like Mommy, and like my heavenly Daddy, too. Sharing God inspired words, the language of a Son, with anyone and everyone in my life.
I hope that when you feel something special after hearing my words, you’ll figure out where I learned to speak Son, just like the people who encountered Jesus’ disciples. You’ll “take note concerning them (me) that they had been with Jesus”. Acts 4:13
